Reading the drawing

REAR VIEW · Lug 1 = CCW / Lug 2 = Wiper / Lug 3 = CW. Signal, tone and switch roles use distinct labels; grey = ground, dashed = shield. Bronze joints = casing solder; crossing hops do not join. Verify your actual hardware.

Connection reference / closed contacts

Select a connection to inspect its physical endpoints. A crossing is not a solder joint.

These are switch contacts, not additional wires to solder.

      Explain this circuit

The tone circuit branches towards ground; the main signal does not pass through the tone capacitor on its way to the output.

All pots are shown from the rear with lugs down. The diagram’s left-to-right labels are 3, 2, 1. Lug 1 is the counter-clockwise end of the track, lug 2 is the wiper and lug 3 is the clockwise end. Numbering conventions differ; confirm by measurement on your actual part.

The toggle shows an open-frame five-terminal arrangement, including two output contacts that must be joined. The jack shows a generic mono tip and sleeve. Identify terminals by continuity; generic outlines are not model-specific pinout guarantees.

Only terminal circles are junctions. Crossings do not join. Both series links are joined and insulated. Pickup shields, pot cases, selector frame, jack sleeve and bridge/string ground share ground.

Wire tracing follows soldered connections and the selected toggle contacts. It stops at the internal resistance of pots and at capacitor/resistor leads; it is not an audio or impedance simulation.
